A Night Out For Luca

A night out for Luca

Craft & Co, 390 Smith St, Collingwood

“A Night Out for Luca” was the Foundation’s third major fundraising event and it was a stunning success, attracting 130 guests, raising over $25,000, and achieving our target of supporting a neonatal intensive care cot at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

A highlight of the night was hearing guest speaker Dr Rod Hunt, Director of Neonatal Medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital. His description of caring for Luca as a newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was moving and reminded everyone of how far Luca has come.

“I had a lot of very serious conversations with Rob and Lisa at the time about very severe brain injury, very severe kidney problems, and whether or not in fact this tiny little being would make it. … this very brave and strong little boy survived, to be the very happy, lovely, engaging little boy you see.“
– Dr Rod Hunt, Director of Neonatal Medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital
